Privacy Policies

Last updated: 20 June 2026. This website, drmikemacdonald.com (“the site”), is the personal blog of Dr Mike MacDonald. It publishes general, educational information about preventive cardiology and longevity. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, how it is used, and your choices. It is written in plain English for an information website; for advice specific to your jurisdiction, please consult a professional.

What information I collect

  • Information you give me. If you subscribe to the newsletter or request the screening checklist, I collect your email address and (optionally) your first name. If you use the contact form, I collect your name, email address and your message.
  • Usage information. Like most websites, the site uses analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site performs. This includes anonymised data such as pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type.
  • The calculators collect no health data. The interactive tools run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to me or stored anywhere.

How I use it

I use your information only to: send the newsletter or checklist you asked for; reply to messages you send me; and understand and improve how the site is used. I do not sell your personal information, and I do not send marketing you did not ask for.

Who processes data on my behalf

I use a small number of trusted service providers, each of which handles data under its own privacy terms: Brevo (email newsletter delivery), Google Analytics (anonymised site usage), and my hosting and security providers (Cloudways and Cloudflare). These providers process data only to provide their service to the site.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and for anonymised analytics. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not stop you reading the site.

How long I keep it

I keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, and contact-form messages for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Analytics data is retained according to the analytics provider’s standard settings.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from any email with one click, at any time. You may also ask me to confirm what information I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it — just get in touch via the contact page.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above will change when I do. If you have any questions about privacy, please contact me.
